Project: intranet site to support
the annual employee engagement survey
Result: 6% increase in response rates
on previous year’s employee survey
See: the intranet pages about employee engagement survey
Network Rail wanted to reverse the falling response rates for its annual employee engagement survey.
The purpose of the survey is to give managers data about the issues in their team so that they could make real changes. The Communications Manager believed that employees were not completing the survey because they did not understand it.
I wrote a small intranet site about the survey which included pages on:
· the previous year's results for the whole of Network Rail
· sources of help and advice
· the survey questions explained in detail
· frequently asked questions
· how to take part
· links to case studies about real changes from previous surveys.
I also wrote a Guide to the Scorecard for managers and their teams. The guide helped them to understand their survey results much better.
The Communications Manager felt that the new intranet site significantly contributed to the increase in the response rate.
